My Motorcycle Sneezed...

Do you ever have those little projects that quickly evolve into large projects because you keep finding things to fix or clean as you go, and want to take care of them "while you're in there?" The photo above is of what my simple rear shock replacement turned into. (Photo credit goes to my Uncle Rick Fregoso)

Custom PIAA Axillary Light Brackets for Ol' Blue

I bought a pair of PIAA 1100x axillary lights, and I had to find a way to mount them to Ol' Blue. My solution was to fashion a bracket from a 1/8"x 2" x 36" piece of aluminum from Home Depot. I used pipe clamps to attach the bracket to the fairing frame.

Introducing... Blue Steel (A.K.A. Ol' Blue)

Here it is: My 1981 BMW r65. Originally named Blue Steel, but also known affectionately as Ol' Blue. As the later name suggests, the bike has been well used, but it runs well, and has a lot of sentimental value.

In 2006, my dad was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent major surgery on his pancreas and endured many months of chemotherapy. He decided life was short, and bought himself a new motorcycle, and gave me Ol' Blue.

The photo on the top is Ol' Blue all packed up for a trip to the airport, and the one on the right is him all stripped down and ready to have his electrics worked on.
